Update and a Tool Review!

Hi Guys..
I know I was doing so well posting almost everyday and then nothing.
Well the good news is I have been helping Liz get ready for the baby.
We got a ton of clothes from Derek's Family that she got to go through.
Sad news on that was most of the girls they have in the family are opposite months so we did get a  bunch that will help there was a ton of cute stuff Norah wont get to wear. But what she can probably wear is all washed and in bins ready for Liz to pull out when she reaches the right sizes.  It should be any day now that Norah makes her appearance so I will keep you all informed. I also took down the table in the family room and have now turned that area into the "grandchildren Zone" Kept the table though its just in pieces legs under the stairs and the top is in the garage so we will have it again when I need it for a crop or something.
to nice of a table to get rid of.
So after that long winded up date now onto the tool review..
Shapes punched in the the in colors and pierced using the new templates
I purchased the new piercing tool, mat and guide in the new Stampin Up catalog and started playing with it this weekend.

The piercing tool is very nice and very sharp. Love it. It is very user friendly, well until you poke yourself. I recommend you avoid that it is very very sharp.

The new mat is nice and will be perfect for my ball tools as well as anything that requires the need for a foam mat. it is quite thick too unlike the last little one. the size is 9 1/2 X 6 1/2 X 3/8 (good size)

And last the plastic templates are quite cool they have 13 different designs right now and for those of you that saw the newest holiday catalog with me. Have seen the next set comes with 19 more (ornaments and the window frames and labels collection which the last 2 are 5 sizes each) Its really nice that they are taking the time to make these easy for us to piece around and give that extra bit of pizzazz we all like.
Here is a picture of the old template vs the new template
The differences on the new template is that the no longer have the eyelet placement and the template used to be 4 X 4 and it is now 6 X 6.
With the added punch pieces and Dies that they have added it is a must have.
Have a wonderful Monday,

Dianne

Bag book birthday gift

Made a bag book for Rachelle for her birthday back in May and just gave it to her this week so I was just able to post pictures of the completed project now.
I used the Cheerful Treat paper line from Stampin up complemented by Melon Mambo, Concord Crush and Lucky Limeade. All colors that just make this paper pop. It was a paper I had really not used much of and not found a need for in cards but when I was looking for the right paper for this gift I instantly thought of Rachelle and how she could put some special pictures in it of her and Char.

Cover page I kept this one simple and left the sweet paper (my favorite of this set) without a title so that she could add what ever she wanted and we could title it later if she wanted or not and put a picture on it.
Its up to Rachelle.
The next pages use the stripe paper I found this paper so hard to use for cards but as a horizontal page mat with the Lucky Limeade it was toned down just right and those flowers I made to match the cover were just the right embellishment. not too much and not too little. The interesting part to me is I had cut a bunch to make a clump of them on the cover and it just didn't work. So again the cover was clear of everything.

Next I used the dot paper and the Melon Mambo to border it
Love how it works so well together. More flowers and I mixed all the colors too..

Interesting again the papers I struggled with for cards just fell into place for a bag book. Loved this page and Concord crush a paper that I was not overly fond of - such a deep purple and I am not into purples worked so well as a sweet border with this paper.

The purple paper here has a slight pattern and the Lucky Limeade is so nice bordering it

This stripe was again not a really easy paper to work with and turned into a neat addition to the book.
Love it with the flowers.
Tag #1 used the paper from the books on the tags to give the book a little more brightness instead of white standard tags.

Tag #2 - love the Melon Mambo

Tag #3 - Didn't Concord Crush do a nice job on the background here??!!!

Hope you enjoyed the fun Book I gave to Rachelle for her birthday and I hope she loved it as much as I had fun making it for her. Can't wait to see what she does with the book.
Have a great weekend,
Loves,
Dianne

Baby Book for Norah - 3

Here are the last months of the Chipboard book for Baby Norah.
As you can see the tag theme continued through all the months.
Page 13 "Love Cherish Adore" Tag and Photo mat
This is the month 7 page.

Month 7 tags - "Precious beyond measure"
A little room for some photos if needed on that tag
Standard journaling on the  month 7 information tag.

Month 8 has more room for some pictures and the adorable hot air balloon.

Page 14  Month 8's official page and the tag reads "Sweet Dreams" so I hope we are able to get a little sleeping picture for the tag as well.

Page 15 Up to month 9 and we have the hanging clothes line tag that reads "love"
Journaling or a photo like usual on the tag

Tags for month 9 are  another busy set with
"Twinkle Twinkle little star do you know who loved you are?"

Month 10's tags are also busy with "Owl always love you"
what a cute family of owls.

Page 16 month 10's pager has the adorable owls on it as well to match its tags.

Page 17 Month 11 used the hot air balloon tag which if desired could be covered with a picture

Month 11's tags have a little room for more journaling or pictures

Month 12's tags are all about turning a year old.
A few pictures could be added here.
Isn't that cupcake so cute...

Another cupcake for the 1 year old little angel  and the work "sweet"
And the back of the book
I finally got to use a border piece.

Ok so my overview of these papers and the book.
I know I have been giving tidbits here and there but here is some more info:
I love these papers on so many levels. They are so sweet and special for your little one.
I know that Liz wanted something special that she and Norah could have as a picture book that they could kind of sit and read together while she is young and then she could look at while she is older so this fits the bill. This is not the main baby book for Norah and we have a full set of this paper to remake a standard baby book using an 8X8 album. The concept will be to place the same tags in some sort of pocket for Liz to pull out and tuck away in the actual baby book as I can't build that book this same way.  Just a heads up- you will see a bit more of this paper floating about on my blog posts. We also got the party paper in this line and we are planning to get the summer paper. Looking at the Christmas one too.... I hope they keep coming out with fun papers that fit our needs.

Baby Book for Norah - 2

Well this part of the Baby book starts getting a little confusing so I broke it down to the last basic pages and the first 3 months. You will notice it looks like I took multiple pictures of the same pages. its the inserts I am showing when I did this.

Page 7 Journaling on the side and then the "Love Cherish and Adore" sticker at the top.
Page 8 Last of the standard pages angled this photo mat and added the "Precious"
"Little One" "So Special" Tag but I cut the paper off the edges to allow it not to clash with the swirl paper I wanted to use.

Page 7 again but this shows you the chipboard that is in the center of the page
"Look what I can Do"
Page 8 the is the other side of the Chipboard in the center of the pages this side says
"Its all about me" (Im kind of a big deal)

Didn't want to leave out those special inserts that were added.

Page 9 starts the months and more of the center inserts.
This is month #1 room for a picture and either journaling here or another picture

these are 2 chipboard tags the top one has space for information
Each of the months says Weight, Length and Milestones
The bottom one has  a quote and room for a picture if desired
or to be left alone for just decoration
Depends on the tag as you will see as you go through the whole book.
This one has the tree but I am sure a small picture would look cute here.

This side of the chipboard tags are opposite of the other notice the month one is on the bottom
That is how they all will be the front side the month is on top the back the month is on bottom they are not connected so you could flip them and read then at the same time if you desired. or look at the opposite tags too.... the top tag on this one is more generic and would be more geared for a photo then some of the others in this paper line. love the softness of the hanging hearts here.

Page 10 is now Month 2 for the actual 2nd months photo and some journaling that wasn't included in the chipboard tags or again a photo

Page 11 here is the 3rd month and this tag we added doesn't leave much room for anything but it was just so cute. The flower paper is so sweet. I think its one of my favorites.

the tags here will leave room for some journaling on the month tag but not so much on the quote tag its more just a quote and there because its cute.

Same with the 4th month tags more of a quote and then the info will have to fit on the months tag

Page 12 This one is the 4th month page where we will end today there is room here for a picture and then journaling or a photo.

I hope you are getting a good feel of the book and understanding the concept of it.
When I was starting to play with this paper I was really struggling with the size of some of the pieces we wanted in the book but having them as a part of the book but also putting in pictures was becoming a problem so coming up with adding the tag pages was an option i thought would solve the problem of having our cake and eating it too. It made the book huge but Its amazing.
I promise I will finish up the book in a post tomorrow.

Dianne

Baby Book for Norah

Well I'm going to do this in a few posts as there are a bunch of pages and I think you will enjoy getting it in smaller doses..

Here is the cover and the first few pages of the Baby Book for Norah I have been working on with Liz this past weekend.
We chose the Simple Stories Baby Steps paper and used some Early Espresso and Very Vanilla SU paper.
This book is a chipboard book from Creative Cuts and More. I did cut 2 of the tabs down and make them actual pages instead of tabs but when you see all the posts you will understand more of the dynamics of this book at that time.

page 1 is for birth info and her 1st picture

Page 2 another picture and an area to journal.
One thing with this paper and embellishments that I found and I appreciated is that
there is tons of writing area. I also had put ribbon on some of the photo mats and later removed it as the book got too big for the bulk of ribbon and anything but the stickers and embellishments included in the paper line. I inked all the photo mats with Crumb Cake ink

Page 3 Just a sweet page to add some random photo's

Page 4 this one almost was all journaling but we decided to add the photo mat.
either way it was a very sweet page.

page 5 love the post card papers small photo and a nice place to write some "Cherished Moments" as well as add a floating photo on the post card if she desires.

Page 6 couple of photo mats and more journaling.
This one is "Delight in the little things".
Such sweet and simple paper that make this a special little book.

Hope you all are enjoying the fist pages of the baby book check back tomorrow for a few more...

Dianne
