Our laundry area is more of a hall from the garage to the house. So it has to be simple, functional and welcoming.
Here is the pictures of the laundry area when I remembered to take before pictures.
This first picture is just after the washer and dryer were removed and I swept the floor.
It was bad!! Amazing what it looks like under stuff after 4 plus years.
Also this floor has to stay for now - very sad but if the floor had to be changed the
project was going to be delayed.
coat rack area with basket for hats
Ceiling - there was a pot light put in at some point but they never removed
the old gross light fixture. That was high on my list of things to get removed.
After the shelf was removed
Just before we painted the room
(this room and the sink area of our master are the only areas we have not painted since moving in)
The midway points:
The cleaned up ceiling - very difficult picture to take.
Its all freshly painted and the old light area covered with a plate.
The wall painted and then the chalk lines for the studs
Wonder what were going to do????
SHIPLAP!!
Yep we shiplapped the wall behind the washer and dryer.
Love the look and we just bought it primed and didn't paint over it
Has the rustic look I wanted
Completed wall before plates were added.
Next we put up the painted molding and added back in the washer and dryer and then some cabinets we got at Home Depot.
Freshly painted the molding and got that back on the nicely painted walls
Got 2 white coat racks and put them up. Helps with the space to keep the coats as flat as possible
Got the 1st shelf up and then the cabinets - started to decorate a smidge.
The keys had to be lowered as the door to the cabinet was hitting them.
Finished project pictures:
Got the next 2 shelves up and then was able to add in the rest of the stuff I had bought.
At this point I was looking for a semi transparent basket and something to go on the top shelf
next to it. The search was on!
View from the other side of the room.
Found a white basket set on Amazon (Gave the larger one to Liz) and I had decided to put my gnome friend that Nancy got me up here. Now he has a permanent home again.
Not sure what is going in the basket. Maybe some fabric? Towels? Not sure yet but this fills the space without blocking the laundry sign.
Also still debating what is going on the chalk board sign on the 2nd shelf. Someday right.
I have more space for the things I want in the laundry area and it looks so nice if company comes through this way as well as when we come home its very welcoming.
So we are very happy with how this turned out. Next project is the re do of the desk downstairs.
Pictures coming up in a few days........
